Re: The summer transfer window thread
Ive been on a scouting mission (Take note Steidten!) ;)

The right attacking full back at the Portuguese club Boavista would be a cracking signing, excellent both defensively and attackingly. His name is "Pedro Malheiro", he is 23 years old.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Malheiro

Then the left back I found for us goes by the name "Caio Henrique",he is 26 years old and plays for Monaco.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caio_Henrique

Then I focused on a left sided forward and Amine Gouiri would be an excellent signing, scored 15 goals in 33 apps last season for Rennes in France. (He can also play upfront)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amine_Gouiri

Kasper Dolberg the Anderlecht forward is a similar kind of player as Gouiri as they can both play on the left flank aswell as upfront, doesnt score shitloads but creates alot...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasper_Dolberg

A striker I here you scream.. Hmm I got 3 results...

Serhou Guirassy has been superb for Stuttgart in recent times, will have many suitors no doubt in the summer but we should aim high!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serhou_Guirassy

The Canada international and Lille forward Jonathan David should be on our radar, 23 years old, still plenty of room for improvements... versatile player, can play on either flank and upfront

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_David

Then of course the one we were linked with last year but Benfica snapped up. 21 years old now with experience of a better league now, he has done well in Portugal

Re: The summer transfer window thread
If we have any thoughts of getting back into Europe over the next few years then we need to pay more attention to home grown players and bringing some through.

I expect this window will play out as usual with agents telling their players to hang out for better deals with better clubs after the Euros as they get desperate towards the end of the window. Guaranteed we will go into the season again with a depleted squad with a few new players signed late that have no time to integrate.
Interested to see in the Benrahma , Kehrer and Downes get bought after their loans or whether any of the youngsters returning form theirs have a realistic chance of breaking through.
If we assume that they aren't we could be looking at needing 8 or 9 players. That's way too many and every club that has spent out on a large number of players in one year has struggled in this league.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
The Moyes leftovers aren't looking good. We need a complete new bench and several new first XI players.
Thank God Moyes isnt here to fuck things up.

What is top priority? A couple of forwards, a left winger, right back and a central defender?

Maybe Steidten isn’t against collaboration but couldn’t get on board with the likes of Maguire, McTominay and Phillips… But is happy to discuss sensible targets within a transfer committee

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Wasn't that thing about the 4 players taken from what some journo said back in February, so nothing to do with West Ham at all or what our needs might be. He was being linked with Man Utd at the time. Great if it includes a striker and LW but what if them players are in positions that we're already well covered? No point in us getting replacements for Bowen and Kudus in particular.

I don't see why it would particularly impress Steidten anyway, seeing as he wants to be the one making those decisions. You'd have thought it would put him off, unless they all happened to be his own top targets.

That wouldn't surprise me. This fella lives and breaths football, has been out of work for 9 months and has probably been watching 6 games a day every day. I'm confident this fella knows what he is doing.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
We really have a huge rebuild on hand. The delay in replacing our aged squad means that in my estimation in some positions, we need not one but two signings.

We need: A goalkeeper as a backup to Areola assuming Fab is not up for that given no European games. Is Trott good enough?

We might need two right-backs if Coufal doesn't fancy the backup role.

At Centre Back we have real problems, Ogbonna is done (age), as is Zouma medically (backup maybe but very high wages) Aguerd doesn't seem robust enough physically or mentally maybe he could turn it around plenty of skill but his desire seems in doubt to me. Mavarapos is the best of the bunch but again not a first choice IMO. So at least two and probably three are needed. Bringing in youngsters ( even if we have one) in this position would be more likely if we had at least one experienced leader to start alongside but we don't!

Left-back Emmerson needs a backup - Creswell is done. Another worry is that Emmerson shines best with Paqueta in the team (which of course he won't be )

The logical thing is to sign two full-backs that can also cover at centre back. This is not likely to facilitate the more attacking formations many are demanding. But whatever we need two full backs which has been the case for at least two seasons.

Alvarez is the only CDM that should be starting, Downes maybe if he comes home. JWP is now a backup player and further forward. Soucek is to slow for a new more dynamic midfield that is being hinted at, Het would be an okay backup but I suspect he may move on. So possibly one is needed here.

Paqueta will need replacing hopefully the £85m will help.

Can't see Benrahma coming back so a left winger is still needed

Of course, Kudos and Bowen play but we need a striker and Antonio should be backup but he has a big ego so not likely. I suspect Ings and Cornet will be moved on if their contracts are done unless Ings takes a massive pay cut. Need to bring in some youngsters but looks like Mubama will be going. Callum Marshall maybe but hard to see how youngsters get game time now we are out of Europe.

A very busy window ahead.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
I've mentioned him before but I really hope we go and get the Brazillian Andre (link below). Us, Liverpool and Fulham were strongly linked to him in the summer but nothing came of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erBxE21StMY

He is a similar style player to Paqueta but plays deeper as a DM. Would be fantastic alongside Alvarez and is able to link defence to attack.

Apparently Steidten has spent some time in Brazil looking at players (LW Wesley) so hopefully he has also lined up Andre.

Starting to feel quite excited about the potential for next season, possible youth promotion to 1st team, younger players being looked at and the non footballer lamp-post being moved out of the 1st team. Exciting times

Waits for Sullivan to unzip and start pissing on my chips!!

Above may be bollox but would good if true. In lncludes a right wing back apparently?

Hammer and Pickle 4:47 Tue May 7
Re: The summer transfer window thread
The absolute priority is the whole defence starting with the right-sided full back and two centre halves with back ups for Mavro and Emerson as well. Some may come from the youth but there is definitely no point trying to use Soucek in this area, which I think was Moyes’s main mistake.

Not so worried about midfield if Benrahma returns and with Kudus, Bowen, Antonio, Cornet and Ings available, shelling out for a striker can wait.

We need players all over the pitch.

Apart from a goalkeeper.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
I’d love to see Benrahma comeback and find some form, he’s such a talented player.

If he goes then we need a left sided forward.
As well as
CF
Right back
Centre back
And a replacement for Paqueta if he goes.

Inc 15m for Benrahma if sold

ludo21 3:44 Tue May 7
Re: The summer transfer window thread
Manuel... add up the hoped for sale proceeds in my post and assume that 50m is set aside from tv money / EL proceeds. Pretty sure we had unused funds from January as well.

Obviously depends what we get for Paqueta but total shouldn't be far off 200m.

Re: The summer transfer window thread
Agree with most of Ludo’s analysis below
Zouma’s knee is fucked … watch him hobbling after Jackson in the second half
Not sure I’d bring Benrahma back … my biggest regret is we went for him instead of Eze at QPR at the time
Integration of the youngsters is key … needs to run his eyes over Earthy, Potts etc & the full back Robinson to see if they can step up & save us from buying

Manuel 3:32 Tue May 7
Re: The summer transfer window thread
Ludo - Sure, it's only IMO. Also understand the concept of everyone has a fresh start under a new manager and that Moyes wouldn't have helped him. I'm just not sure though at 28 he can get any better and I don't think Benny as he is now is good enough, mainly due to his lack of end product, courage/confidence to go at defenders, and generally poor shooting and passing etc.

Out of interest, where do you get the perceived 200 mil kitty from?

El Scorchio 3:26 Tue May 7
Re: The summer transfer window thread
I wouldn’t mind seeing Benny in a situation where he’s not hung out to dry by the manager. So often he was isolated with the ball on the left wing with no option but to either wait for support, take a player on, play a risky pass/take a potshot or turn back. Doesn’t have the speed of Bowen to get past or behind his man. I honestly think he’d have been a fair bit better under a different manager/style of play. You could say that about most of the team to be frank.

And he had them all playing with fear, which is crippling for a player.

Number one is sorting out Paqueta’s future. I do wonder if this manager move made now is to make it clear to the player(s) that change is coming and they don’t need to move heaven and earth to try and leave the club. It’s clear he had no interest in playing for Moyes any more so maybe we see a fresh player under a new regime. Although if he’s made up his mind regardless then there you go.

Need to make sure we hang on to Kudus Bowen and Alvarez too. Everything else is a moveable feast. Most of the other players will be serviceable at least under a new manager and I do think we will see several look way better but agree with most that Cress, Oggy and a few others should go. Antonio I would keep but we need to bring in a new younger centre forward. To that end it’s a shame Scamacca wasn’t just on loan but there you go.

Need to see the situation with Kehrer, Downes and a few others as well.

Lots for J Lo to think about. Hopefully this has been in the works for a little while and he has been watching and already has some ideas.
